For
two decades, Mark Ridgley's coaching experience has been
associated with multiple teams across college, the NFL,
and overseas to acquire his impressive and well-traveled
resume.
Mark played football for New Brighton High School.
Playing both wide receiver and defensive back, Mark
earned all-conference honors as a first-team wide
receiver. After graduating high school in 2004, Mark
coached football at the University of Pittsburgh, where
he served the Panthers for four years as an
undergraduate student manager and two years as a
graduate assistant. At Pitt, Mark was a defensive
assistant coach who worked with the defensive backs.
Mark continued work on the defensive side of the ball at
Central Michigan University, where he coached the
defensive backs and defensive line during the 2010 and
2011 seasons.
Starting in 2012, Mark coached for the NFL's Chargers
franchise, working with head coaches Norv Turner, Mike
McCoy, and Anthony Lynn. Over eight seasons with the
Chargers in San Diego and Los Angeles, Mark started as a
coaching administrative assistant, then was promoted to
newly created positions of special assistant to the
offense and special assistant to the head coach. Mark
also served the Chargers as offensive assistant coach,
assistant offensive line coach, and running backs coach,
with a backfield that included Austin Ekeler and Melvin
Gordon. During his tenure with the Chargers, Mark also
coached running backs for the East team in the 2020
East/West Shrine Bowl.
Starting in 2024, Mark has coached in Europe, as special
teams coordinator and defensive line coach for the
Madrid Bravos, and, in 2025, as head coach of the
Hungarian-based Fehérvár Enthroners in the European
League of Football. In 2026, Mark was hired as head
coach of the Düsseldorf, Germany-based Rhein Fire for
their inaugural season in the American Football League
Europe.
Mark has received tremendous family support throughout
his coaching journey, especially from his wife Casey and
his two daughters, Carson and Charlotte.
