Jonathan Baldwin

Football ∙ Aliquippa

Jonathan Baldwin is one of the most accomplished athletes in Aliquippa history, earning nine letters across three sports: four in basketball, two in track, and three in football.

In basketball, Jonathan was named first-team All-State by the Associated Press, was named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Fabulous 5 team, and was named to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Terrific 10 team.

In track, at the 2007 PIAA 2A track and field championships, Jonathan earned bronze in the boys' 100m dash and was part of a 4x100m relay team that won gold.

In football, under the leadership of Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame coach Mike Zmijanac, Jonathan's honors included Associated Press first-team All-State, ESPNU High School All-American, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Fabulous 22 team, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Terrific 25 team, and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's All-Decade team for the 2000s. Jonathan also played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the Big 33 Football Classic.

In college, three-sport star Jonathan decided to focus on football. Over offers from universities such as Florida, Michigan, and USC, five-star football recruit Jonathan selected the University of Pittsburgh, where his father Jeffrey played defensive lineman from 1981 through 1984. Jonathan finished his Pitt career sixth all-time in receiving yards for the Panthers and earned first-team All-Big East honors in 2009 and 2010. Over his three seasons at Pitt, Jonathan caught 128 passes for 2,337 yards (18.3 average) and 16 touchdowns, and he was named a Big East All-Academic Football honoree for 2009.

In the 2011 NFL draft, 6'-4" Jonathan was projected to be a Pro Bowl talent and was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round, 26th overall. Jonathan debuted with the Chiefs in their sixth game of 2011. A week later during a Halloween Monday Night Football game in his home debut, Jonathan led all Chiefs receivers with 5 catches for 82 yards and an acrobatic 39-yard touchdown. Jonathan played wide receiver for the Chiefs in 2011 and 2012 and for the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, but his promising football career in the NFL was unfortunately cut short due to recurring knee injuries.

Jonathan is cousin to fellow Beaver County Sports Hall of Famer Charles Fisher, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals. Jonathan has six children between ages 7 and 16. Jonathan and his wife Amanda live in Chandler, AZ, where he is currently in business in the logistics, lending brokerage, and real estate development spaces.
