Walt Ostrowski Jr.

Coaching ∙ Ambridge

With the induction Walt Ostrowski Jr, the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame welcomed in yet another member from what might have been the best high school basketball team in Beaver County history: the 1967 Ambridge High School state championship team. Walt, the co-captain of that team, joined three of his former teammates (Frank Kaufman, Dennis Wuyick, and Dick DeVenzio) and their coach, Chuck DeVenzio. During his career at Ambridge from 1964 to 1967, Walt competed in basketball, football, cross country, and baseball. After high school, he moved on to West Chester State University, where he was captain of the freshman basketball team. For over 30 years, Walt served as a basketball coach at Hatboro-Horsham High School. After several years as an assistant, he took over as head coach and his record through the 2001-2002 season was 318-178. Walt also earned Montgomery County Coach of the Year honors in 1985 and 1989.
