George Green

Basketball ∙ Midland

While at Midland’s Lincoln High School, George Green was most notable for his participation in athletic events like football, track, and basketball. He was a three year letterman in track. In George’s senior year (1971), the football team went undefeated (10-0) but missed the WPIAL playoffs due to the Gardner Point system; George nevertheless received recognition as a first team Defensive MVP and All State selection as middle linebacker. George went to Ohio University on a basketball scholarship and received various honors while majoring in business management. After college, George coached 5th and 6th grade girls’ Bantam basketball in Midland and was also a member of the Midland Basketball Association and the Midland Recreational Board. He also served as a school board director in Midland and for the New Horizon School.
