Ted Grebb

Football ∙ Ambridge

As a center on the Bridgers’ football teams from 1932 to 1934, Ted Grebb was an outstanding lineman, marking the All County and All WPIAL teams in 1934. He earned three letters in football and three more in basketball and was selected to the All WPIAL basketball team as a senior. From 1935 to 1938, he played football for Duquesne University and was selected the outstanding center in the area, even though that year Pitt was a national championship caliber team. Ted played professionally for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1939 and 1940, and was drafted into the Army in 1941, playing and coaching football at Fort Story, Virginia. After his military career, Ted returned to athletics, playing baseball and softball. He was inducted into the Ambridge Hall of Fame in 1989. Ted died on July 11, 1995.
