As a senior at Ambridge High School during the 1985 season, Hal Galupi earned honorable mention All Conference honors as a quarterback, then threw five touchdown passes in the 1986 Penn-Ohio State Line Classic. He accepted a scholarship to Edinboro University and developed into one of the most prolific passers in Fighting Scots’ history: Hal ranked second in career passing yards (5650), attempts (706), completions (372), and touchdown passes (50). He ranked second and third in passing yards in a season with 2,092 in 1990 and 1,911 in 1989, and set two of the Fighting Scots’ top five single game passing marks: second with 351 yards in a 1990 game against Indiana University of Pennsylvania and fifth with 299 yards against California (PA). As a senior, Hal was named second team All Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Conference and honorable mention NCAA Division II All American. Hal suffered a fatal cardiac arrhythmia attack while playing a game of slow pitch softball on August 8, 2000.
