Dom Casey

Manager / Promoter ∙ Beaver Falls

Dom Casey coached and managed 45 teams in various sports during his long career as a youth recreation director in Beaver Falls from 1946 until 1978. He organized the famous Beaver Falls American Legion basketball team in 1946 and the Tommies went on to win five state Legion cage championships, a national title in 1948, national Legion runners-up in 1950. From 1947 through 1949, the team won 88 straight games against American Legion competition. Just to keep busy, Dom also became manager of the Beaver Falls Senior American Legion baseball team in 1947 and in 1950 helped organize the Beaver Falls American Legion Little League team. He managed that team until he became manager of the Beaver Falls Junior Legion team for 13 years. In 1953, Dom joined George Mrvosh as co-director of the Beaver Falls Sports Programs, a post they shared for thirteen years. Among those who played baseball for Dom Casey during his long career as a manager of youth teams are Joe Namath (above left), Joe Lonnett, Jack Damaska, Bobby Lawrence, Joe Walton, Rich Neidbala, Bill Neidbala, Bill Damaska, Jim (Bucky) Mutscheller, Ed Olkowski, Karlin (Butch) Ryan, George (Tookie) James, Tom Krzemienski, Walter Martin, and Stan Kondracki.
